I'm playing a lot of Splatoon lately, mostly to try and distract myself from the utter nonsense that is work right now. Since coming back from my week off, work have managed to do at least two blatantly illegal things: dropping my basic pay to ( Read more... )

Hope the RMT gets the pay issue sorted out...preferably in a manner that leaves you with a lot of compensatory pay in your pockets and the dimwits responsible with a lot of egg on their face.

Things I'd like:
- An investigation into how long this has been going on;
- Confirmation of what my actual Basic Pay should be, taking into account the pay rises since my contract was signed;
- The monies owed to me added on to my next paycheque, including a calculation for interest that I could've been making on it had the money been in my account not VT's;
- An investigation into why this was allowed to happen and who is responsible for ultimately exposing the company to a Breach of Contract lawsuit;
- Suitable disciplinary action

How much of that I'll get, I don't know. But it seems like a good place to start.

Twitter is fun, within limits. It's nice to keep in touch with people, and it's occasionally good for sharing little snippets from your daily life. It can be entertaining, too, if you find the right people to follow. It needs an odd form of self-control that I haven't had to practice on other sites, though; I had to learn that not everything is an important message that needed me to look at it directly, the same way as a direct message or an email or something might be. Once I figured that out (and how to block/mute/unfollow things that I don't necessarily want broadcast at me 24/7), it's been fairly decent so far.

I wonder if they have a course on speaking the language of bureaucracy...

I have a Duolingo but I always forget to actually do anything with it! Thanks for adding me, perhaps that will be more motivation :)
