What about it? Anyone who says they're going to abolish it might as well be running on an "every day is going to be 75 degrees and sunny!" platform. Not going to happen. Taxes are, well, kinda necessary. Unless we all want to live in an actual third world country instead of just cracking jokes about how this will soon be one. Stafford loans, social security, medical research, highways, the NEA, birth control for the poor, medical assistance in foreign countries, historic preservation, taxes cover more than just the war effort, and as a nation we would be collectively fucked by eliminating them. Since, well, from getting up today I've enjoyed electricity with a federal subsidy, public transit from the same, food grown by farmers who depend on federal aid, a nicotine patch paid for by NY state in conjunction with a federal subsidy, and a refreshing lack of smallpox, polio and tb.
