A Week of Setting the Context

Aug 08, 2011 06:10

The Art of Possibility, by Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander,* is helping me figure out the week ahead.  See, I'm sort of in a limbo moment.  Let me lay it out for you:
  • I'm about to turn 45.  YAY! A big birthday!  I love big birthdays for their taking-stock-quality.  So this is sort of a taking-stock week.
  • Hound Dog True should hit stores at ( Read more... )

Thanks for posting this! I understand exactly what you mean by the way YOU read the book. It seems like I find the sentence I need to find--the one that speaks to ME--in whatever I'm reading if I'm open to the possibility. Maybe I can't be looking for it?

Good luck with your week!

I don't know exactly how it happens, but it always does. Even with fiction. I'm totally captivated by a scene or a moment that is completely beside the point for most readers. But that is one thing I like about books -- they leave space for that.

Ooh, that book sounds wonderful. I'm adding it to my wishlist now!

I've just added that book to my reading list--it sounds like what I need, and the Martha Graham quote is especially apt. She was one classy dame.

On a kismet note--this year our ages are palindromes of each other. :-}

Can't think of a better palindrome pal to have. Also just struck by the palin part of palindrome. How I wish there was a backward version of her . . .or perhaps she IS the backward version?

I tend to be rather *too* in love with possibilities. I like my rambling ways, but at times, I wish I were more of a goal setter.

Your description of inspirational books and "the whole nest of this stuff" made me smile. It is like nesting, to read and gather, and take a twig here and a bit of gold thread there, and then turn it round and round and try to imagine living there.

Happy 45, my dear. May the year grace you with time to explore every possibility.

I laughed when i wrote "nest" then decided to keep it for the exact reason you cite. Thanks for the birthday wishes, Sara. Hope the move-in is going well. Feeling settled yet?

Happy Almost Birthday!
I love the idea of setting the context, instead of the goal. I am goal oriented... I set them high, and I miss the mark.
Can't wait to read HOUND DOG TRUE!!!
CAN NOT WAIT!

When I do set goals, I try to set them in a series of small goals that lead to something bigger. Just setting a big goal is too overwhelming for me!
Thanks for the birthday wishes!
