It's going to really depend on the company whether or not they would be ok with that time frame. In the case of my group, there's no way that we would let someone wait that long before starting because we desperately need people and we need them now. In scott's case, they paid him to sit at home rather than start his job when he was supposed to. My gut is that it's an awful long time to push out the start date but it might just work for them. In the cases where i've switched jobs they haven't been willing to wait more than a month

I guess you're right.. My feeling is that they might be willing to push it out a bit because they're doing construction right now, presumably to make room for the people they're hiring, so it might work out that it's better for me to start when that's over. I dunno. I guess I've got a skewed perspective because I've only worked for EB, and they gave me like 4 weeks to make up my mind, and I think I took another 4 weeks after that to start work. Though they're used to things moving at a glacial pace

There is a dude at Dusen's job that recently quit but kinda does contract work with them from home. He obviously does not work full time for the company but is still available to help finish any project that needs his help.
