Ficlet: Ethan's Birthday moerlin October 15 2011, 03:42:34 UTC

Luke was standing by the entrance to the living room, a content smile on his face. He had stopped in his tracks on the way in, just wanting to savor the moment when he caught sight of Reid interacting with his siblings. Never in his wildest dreams - although to be honest, they were mostly NC-17 rated and based on recent memories these days - did he imagine his grumpy, slightly short-tempered neurosurgeon boyfriend would not only get along with his siblings, but actually spend time with them voluntarily. Not to mention that it looked like Reid, who insisted that he could pick out a gift on his own, thank you very much, had apparently also managed to give Ethan the perfect birthday present, judging by the fact that his little brother hadn’t let the Rubik’s cube that was designed to look like a brain out of his sight ever since he opened the package and declared that it was so cool and totally gross in an awesome wayLuke was just eavesdropping on Reid trying to explain the best strategy for solving the puzzle to Ethan and Natalie, all ( ... )

OMG, the idea of Reid speeding through a Rubik's Cube is totally hot, so thank you for that! Did I mention I like smartypants!Reid? ;)

I forgot to tell you before how much I love this line:
Well, who knew that cake would be the gateway drug to bonding with your siblings, huh?
Heeeeeee! Cake is like the track in Reid's one-track mind. :DDD

Hee, I might've guessed that. But yeah, brains = hot (in any sense of the word :D)

Aww, thank you! Cake is like, the bestest thing ever. ;) And I really do think Reid has a lot in common with kids - Luke probably chastises them all for the same things. ;)

Thank you! And I'm sure Reid was feeling a little wistful when he picked it out, wishing he had ever gotten any cool gifts as a kid... (admittedly, Reid didn't have the best childhood in my head-canon).
