Reid was reviewing a scan while walk. He heard his father-in-law call his name. Reid made the decision to not look up. Perhaps if he managed not to speed up his pace, he could pretend not to have heard Holden. He only had about fifteen feet until he could reach the elevator and use it to make his escape

Love this so much! Reid's summary of marriage was so sweet and specific that even though Luke isn't in this, it's still about their love and what makes their marriage strong. It was such a pleasure to have Holden come to his senses, at least for the moment. I love that Reid is such a good big brother/parent stand-in: Not only was he taking Ethan and Natalie out without Luke in town, but he also came up with a solution that would avoid lying to the kids and give them another fun weekend.

I was weirdly amused to be able to combine Reid being 'mean' to Holden with Reid being a problem-solving genius in one ficlet.
