Shuffling Through Darkness

Luke finished his chapter and shut off his reading light. Luke sat and listened to the ice storm raging outside. The power had gone out an hour ago. The house was rapidly cooling down. The complete darkness of the room swallowed him whole. The total absence of light reminded Luke of Noah’s blindness. It had been over two years since the accident. Luke thought back to how Noah behaved pushing Luke away insisting on doing everything himself.

Quit trying to help me Luke.

I have to learn to do things on my own.

How am I going to learn if you keep hovering over me?

Luke I’m not in the mood. Don’t you get it? I don’t want your pity sex. Luke stood up in the pitch black room. Was this what it was like for Noah? He shuffled slowly to the kitchen. He knew where every wall and every door was by heart. Blindly he reached for the refrigerator handle. He clumsily felt for the water pitcher. He grabbed it and opened the spout.
