Beth wore a red gingham apron and her face was covered in flour as she and Emma rolled out pie crust in tandem. But what brought a tear to his eye, as his watched from the door, was the smile that was on his daughter's face.
Reid and Beth had been fighting nonstop for days, and Luke had finally had enough and dropped her off at the farm in hopes that the distance would help the pair cool off.
He watched as Beth giggled as she successfully flipped the crust into the pan and Emma congratulated her. Luke remembered back to Emma swinging him onto that same butcher-block counter and cleaning off a scraped knee, drying his tears, and she kissed the bandage before telling him, 'See? Grandma's make everything better.'
He believed it then, and watching her in action, he believed it now.
