I love ROTK....

I went to go see ROTK last night and realized something--these movies are so good, I'm now completely reconciled to ALL the Arwen bits. (Don't ask me about the Warg battle in TTT, though). I cried when she saw Eldarion, at the 'crownless' again shall be king' and found myself wishing we'd had her line to Frodo. siiiigh

Yes, I too love the Arwen parts -- that moment when she sees Eldarion, and realizes that this is the immortality that mortality can offer -- and so clearly chooses to exchange her elven kind for that -- just breaks my heart.

PJ sooooo gets it right in soooooo many places...

And Girly!Arwen playing peek a boo -- She is so HUMAN there, even in the 'look'.

Oh, dear. I think I'm feeling the need to see it again... Sigh!

Hey, Stormy! It's great to see you on lj!

Yes, very. I really like her rendition of "There is no ship now that can bear me hence..." Very human and very sad, both for her and Elrond.

I also really like the way she has adopted the hairstyle of her new homeland! The dangling beads are clearly a Gondorian thing. In fact, I suspect the Gondorian women around her beaming with pride have helped dress her. What a way for a new Queen to arrive in her city! Classy...considerate...tasteful.

But that wasn't why she was restless. Instead, as soon as Arwen did her little peek a boo, the woman pointed and whispered excitedly, "THERE she is! That's my girl! I knew she had to be here!" in tones of great affection.

As much as people pick on Arwen, I haven't found much to dislike her for. I think her at the ford was about her most irritating, but the rest doesn't bother me a bit. Now, if we had had Xenarwen, I might have felt differently. The piece you mention at the coronation is really quite charming. I adore the look Legolas gives Aragorn - sort of a 'You gonna get some, boy...' look, LOL!, and then the way she looks at him, sort of not sure if he'll still want her... I really liked that.

Poor thing, she waited all that time and didn't even get to see a wedding. These movies were just too short.

After my first viewing of Movie #1, a friend asked me what I thought. The first thing out of my mouth was, "It was too short."

I'm still trying to love movie-Arwen, but in ROTK she really did start to grow on me. Now if only Frodo had gotten her necklace at the end... sigh.
