I'm a little surprised L.D. would say that. Well, rather--that he'd mean it. Seems like something he'd say but not necessarily practice. Or maybe he is one of those "men of honor."

I think LD was a fat, white WASP Texas business man, pride, loyalty, integrity, the American Way, and the dirty commmies and the dirty hippies that ought to move to Russia, too, but he probably gave big, fat Christmas bonuses and pretending to like a lot of people he didn't. He even pretends to be nice to Jack on occasion. I'm not sure there's much more to him than what I've just said, though. I don't think he's a very deep character. Almost just a stereotype. George W.

Yeah, he's a tough nut to crack, or rather, there's very little nut inside the shell. I think my portrait for him is going to be the least sympathetic of the bunch because I just can't find much depth there.

But in reality Lureen is too career-driven to have time or energy for a prolonged affair. I wouldn't be surprised if she'd had a fun drunken night away at a conference, but nothing that meant anything, for sure.
