In attempting to find a silver lining in the Bush administration, I was thinking that perhaps we can thank Bush for Obama. I believe that if Al Gore or John Kerry had won their elections, Obama would not be president, at least not now. I don't know if this was on purpose or not, but the music played before Obama took oath was played by a Jewish violinist, an Asian cellist, a black clarinetist, and a woman pianist. It was probably a coincidence, since they are some of the best at their respective instruments, but intentional or not, I think it was very symbolic of the new ( Read more... )

I found out I now officially have 5 weeks of paid vacation a year. Sweet. I started out with 3 weeks. Then after 4 years I got another week because I hadn't had a raise yet. Now they instituted a new policy that gives you an extra week after 5 years. I've been here 6 years, and they let me have both extra weeks. This doesn't include the week ( Read more... )
