If you've never been in a situation like theres, never lost someone to such a traumatizing event you have no room to talk. Sure they had warning to evacuate.. But IT WAS THERE HOME and where were they gonna go on such short notice. I figure, that if your bitching while living in Colorado, I think you need to take some time and consider what these people have been through, because obviously it's never happened to you.

I have considered what these people have been through, but have you though about what they could have saved themselves from. Like now with Hurricane Rita which is gonna hit Texas. Why is it that people don't take credit for what they write and they write it annonymously? Yeah, I realize that I probably spelled that wrong, but I don't care. Seriously, if you have something worthwhile to say...at least take credit for it. Anyhow, Ry...I see exactly where you're coming from...I can actually see both sides of the situation. The pain and devastation...but also, the fact that they did choose to live where there is a big chance of something like that happening. Hope and pray all is well. You can say that you'd leave because you'd have the financial support/stability to do so.

My initial reaction was to think that way, but realistically, I know that if a hurricane hit MA, I would have place to go, transportation, and the financial means to get myself to a safer location.

And for the people that couldnt leave I feel really bad for. It is just the people who are the definition of a redneck that I cant pity. There was an interview with somebody that said she wasnt leaving because her wellfare check was coming. First of all mail wont be coming during a hurricane....DUMBASS! And second, if your not there to get the check, wont they put it in this new thing called a mailbox.
