New episode, random thoughts behind the cut. No spoilers, not even for the
Things that were awesome:
Romo Lampkin returns and has the best lines: "I'm not that good of a shot" hehe! Plus, he was worried about his dog! Go Jack the Dog! And then he killed a guy, with a pen! And proceeded to call him his "pen pal" (hehe) before finally helping Kara with Sam. He's so cool, and if I had known he was going to be in this episode I would have traded for him, even though he killed a guy and would have lost me points
Speaking of Kara with Sam, I loved that she chose to be the one who stayed with him. And I love, love, love that Lee was about to jepordize everything to help her and she had to yell at him to save his dad! Hope Sam lives, hope Kara resovles her feelings for him and realizes their destinies lie in different directions. Because otherwise, why bother to show all these moments with Lee if they're not going anywhere with them? I guess I'm biased.
Tyrol, who climed around the ship for hours and finally ripped the heart of it out to save them. Very cool!
That the Quorum got a frakking spine. Finally. Not so awesome that they all got executed for it. Although Zarek giving the order and Gaeta's reaction to it were brilliant preformances. Very shocking and really crystalized what both of them wanted.
The redemption of Kelly. That was cool, cause he's such a tertiary character and I loved him and Tryol just laughing in the middle of chaos.
Not so Awesome stuff.
Hm...not much really. I mean, it's Angeli, so i can complain about the lack of bad-assery from the female characters (Athena should have got at least one good moment, and I'm really curious about a Racetrack storyline that got cut. I mean, standing around while they almost execute Lee is bad enough, but laughing at Zarek's jokes!) but Roslin was so cool she almost made up for they way everyone else was sort of sidelined.
I admit I'm a little thrown by the fact that all of this happened so fast. And on the show, it was only a day! Boom! revolution. Boom! revolution's over. On the one hand I like it, because I want to get into the meat of the story (Ellen, Opera House, etc), and I can't really complain that they didn't wrap it up in a satisfying way.
I guess It's just sort of weird how easily led so many people on the ship are. Adama gets himself free and boom! he has an army to retake CIC. Like so many of the extras are just going along with whoever seems to be the strongest leader at that point. And I get how that's realistic at a certain level, because practically everyone has PTSD at this point, but it's sort of sad, I suppose.
Maybe it's cause my cousin is in the USMC, so I was sort of disturbed by how the Marienes seemed willing to follow orders from just about anyone. Like, yes, the military culture is based on following orders, but not just anyone's orders! I dunno. It's not a huge thing. It just doesn't seem to fit right. Like Gaeta tells Narcho to pick men he trusts and by the end I'm like "boy Narcho, I think you did a bad job of picking!"
