Echoes of New Caprica....WTF?
So I was in Barnes and Noble and saw this little book called Echoes of New Caprica and it looked really awesome. I mean BSG Manga, how cool is that? And one of the stories is about Kara and Kacey and the beginning of it looked really cute, so I bought it.
But the whole thing is just weird! I suppose it's set right before Kara's crazy arc in Torn. It starts off with this creepy dream sequence of Kara and Kacey outside on New Caprica and Leoben find them. And the storyline is dark and interesting at the beginning with horrible living conditions. Kara finds Kacey who wandered off while Julia is forced to prostitute herself for food, but in this massively OOC moment Kara kidnaps Kacey, and decides she should live in the pilots quarters with her (and Sam, who shouldn't really be there at this place in the season anyways) and Lee is the one investigating it and of course finds her, and there's the huge speech Julia gives about Kacey being her kid and how hard it is to be a mother and Kara blows up at everyone and the story ends with her just being pissed off.
And I can't quite figure out how we go from here to Torn, because in Torn Julia brings Kacey to see Kara. The characterization is just weird and it's like the people doing the story didn't actually see the show or something...
But the art is really awesome, so I think I'm going to make icons from scans and just pretend that Petra drew them. Because I'm weird like that!
