Don't go to Linens 'n' Things.

Feb 24, 2006 17:07

So today I went linen shopping. This is something that's been overdue for a while; I have two futons and no full-size sheets. So I went to Linens 'n' Things to get some sheets. I got two sets of full sheets and one full-size blanket.

I got home, got the bag inside, and discovered that I had two sets of sheets, but no blanket. Huh? I checked the car to see if it had fallen out. Nope. Well, maybe they'd set it on the counter, or forgotten to put it in the bag. I know they'd rung it up; the sheets were discount, and the total was definitely high enough to include all three and too high for the difference to be tax.

So I called, on my cellphone since I have no landline, and speak to the worker who answers the phone. I tell him the situation, and he tells me he'll transfer me to (female co-worker) who works up front; she may know where the blanket is.

20 minutes and 46 seconds later, I hear a click, and say, "Hello?" I hear one more click, then nothing else, not even the crappy digitized pop music they've been pumping at me while I was on hold. Then I check my cellphone screen.

After waiting 20:48 on hold, they hung up on me. Not even a "sorry, couldn't find your blanket that you paid $25 for," just hung up.

So I went online and sent the following e-mail:

Today, I stopped into Linens 'n' Things on [street] in [city], and purchased three items. One of them apparently never made it into my bag. When I called just after 4:30 to ask what had happened to it, I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes and then had my call terminated. Not only have I wasted $25 for a blanket I didn't actually receive, but I have now wasted over 20 cell phone minutes on hold trying to resolve the situation, to no effect. I find the store's behavior, or lack thereof, unprofessional and rude. I will not be doing business with your chain again, nor will I recommend it to any friends. I am thoroughly disgusted. I also want the merchandise I paid for or a prompt refund.

Sincerely,
[my name here]

I am ticked off. I am beyond ticked off. I could have justified the blanket missing as "oh, I must have forgotten to grab it." But the hanging up thing? I'm sorry, bad pop music with worse reception aside, this wasn't a signal problem. They actively hung up the phone on me. That's unprofessional and rude.

Do yourself a favor. If you have to buy linens, go to Ross or something. Don't waste your time on Linens 'n' Things.
