About 13 years ago, when my father moved out, our dog, used to having someone home with him all day, went nuts. He chewed couch cushions and smashed venetian blinds. I don't think she's taken him to the vet about it, but it's a behavior that only started after she adopted the fourth and fifth cats, who bully him a lot from what I understand. He is neutered -- I took care of that as soon as he was old enough. I'll talk to her about asking a vet, though; I admit, it's not something I thought of.

The pissing is new. Simon acting out...isn't. He did that when I had him, too. (Which is the major reason why I haven't jumped to take him -- above and beyond the fact that he does not get along with Thomas.)

If you don't want Simon, you don't want him. If you want, I can ask around up here to see if there are shelters that accept cats: I know Maman asked briefly in CT, but didn't find any places.

You could also place an ad to see if anyone in the area might want to adopt him.

True. I know my mother's been asking around with friends; I don't know if she's thought of an ad.

If you could ask up there, I'd really appreciate it. I thought of asking down here, but Maman is reluctant to ship a cat across country just to put it in a shelter. Hopefully she wouldn't mind a trip to the Boston area as much.
