Pretty sure something similar is going on here in NC. When we sold our house about 1 1/2 years ago, we rented in the next neighbourhood. Same water company that we'd had for 6 years and had excellent payment records with but since we were renting, I had to come down to the water company (45 minutes away) with a valid ID AND permit a credit check.

That was annoying bullshit for me but I could only imagine how awful that would be for many seniors. I hadn't even thought about how they were probably doing this to try to screw over illegal immigrants.

That line that we all had to memorize in school, from the Declaration of Independence, about all [men] being created equal... Clearly people don't believe that anymore. And I no longer speak when the pledge of allegiance is recited, because I do not pledge any allegiance to this country as it is currently operated.

Ugh. My dad doesn't have a picture ID. It's been a hassle all summer trying to get the appropriate documents we need to get him one. I imagine there are plenty of people in the same situation. That's so ridiculous.
