Words don't have the strength they used to. As time goes on, their meanings and weight just disappear.  
We were in Shakespeare today, and we came across the word puzzled and the Prof explained that back in the day, puzzled used to mean paralyzed. Now it only meaning kinda confused.

I know what you mean. XD It feels like I almost always have difficulty finding the right words to express something. D=

It's probably going to get harder because of things like texting. And if you've ever read 1984, remember Newspeak? o.o

Then again, I'm sure that sort of thing can be counter-balanced by people making up new words. XD
