So! I finished Airborne school last week. I jumped out of a plane five times and did not die or break bones, so I say thank God and go team me. Also, thanks for your good wishes, comment-y people. You guys rock and are awesome.

Wow, that sounds amazing! (The jumping out of planes part, not the getting sick or the potential sprained ankle or the hazing or everything else.) Of course I'd never try it for a million dollars. ^_^

Hee, well, I probably wouldn't have done it for a million dollars either, but they didn't really offer me a choice -- if I'd refused to jump, they would've just thrown me out of the plane anyway.

Hope you're having a great summer.

Good for you! I am so proud of you! And your description of Airborne School made me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants. (You can really write, you know!)

But - you DID IT YOU DID IT YOU DID IT!!!

I have always thought I'd like to jump out of a plane with a parachute...something I may yet do before I die!

Go, you!

Thanks so much! I'm so glad you like my writing. :) And the jumping was kind of awesome, although if you ever do it I recommend not doing it with an Army-isse T10D parachute -- there are nice civilian parachutes out there that drop you slowly onto the ground and allow you to land on your feet, unlike the Airborne school parachutes that drop you like a brick onto your back.

I thought they were going to have to throw me out, but then between the rocking of the plane and the suction of the door and my own habit of doing whatever the guy in front of me was doing, I wound up running out on my own. I guess this answers the question of whether or not I would jump off a bridge if everyone else was doing it.

I remember that scene too -- there actually is a different Army school, Air Assault school, where they teach you to rappel out of helicopters. Fortunately we weren't doing that at Airborne.
