Boo on Lush.

I'm not shopping at Lush anymore, and a large amount of Lushies are following suit. If you don't already know why...

First off, the NA price increase. A small price increase (Lush said it would be a 5-6% increase) would have been annoying, but tolerable. But Lush has outright lied to it's loyal customers. The shower gels have gone up 20.5% in price. This is way more than it costs to produce and make a profit from. Perhaps I would not be so outraged had Lush not lied about how much the products were going to be increased by. Do they think we're so dull and loyal that we don't notice the insane price increase of some of the products? Many others have gone up 13 -15%, and the real kicker is, the best selling products were the ones that were marked up the most. That's not a "boo hoo, we need to jack up prices because the ingredients are getting more expensive, ect" situation.

A Lush representitive said, and I quote: "The average price increase will be only about five to six percent on most items." We can do math, Lush, and even the average is a lot higher.

Here are a few more examples.

Flosty Gritter: $4.95 to $6.26. This is a 26% increase
Olive Branch: $20.70 to $24.95

Secondly, I'm sick of them marketing their products as safe and natural. Some of the products are downright bad for you, and you might as well pay half the price and go to the drug store.

Take Ultra Bland for example.

Some of the main ingredients are fragrance, borax (contains insecticide, herbicide, disinfectant, fungicide, and preservative properties. It also has a pH of around 9.5), preservatives, and thickener. This is not good for your skin.

The packaging is another reason. Lush sells 20$ - 80$ liquid products in horrible containers that leak all over the place. In one of the Lush Times of 2006, they did an article on the reason they don't make better containers - it basically came down to them not wanting to spend money on better packaging so that they could offer products at a better price (HAH) and they would cut down on litter.

Recently, Lush has released two new containers, one for massage bars and one for bubble bath, that you can purchase. They have not improved the containers for older products.

Another reason. Shipping. How many of you have gotten, repeatedly, packages in the mail containing broken/leaking products? Lush charges crazy amounts of money for shower gels, and they're one of the most common leakers. Don't they have any respect for their customers at all? In case you only have experience with Lush, breakage of materials during shipping is not common in other companies. From what I have read on the forums, here, and from friends, you have a very low chance of recieving your products 100 % intact.

I'm done with Lush trying to market itself as an ethical, environmentally friendly company that veers away from the whole "big corporation" idea, when it does exactley the opposite.

There are better options out there, everyone. I used to be a major Lushie, totally obsessed, didn't get my cosmetics from anywhere else. But I just can't take the blatant disrespect, lies, word twisting, and money grubbing anymore.

Goodbye Lush, hello 100percentpure.com.
