Skin's Shangri-La

Hello! I have been looking for a good anti aging night cream. I have VERY oily, acne-prone skin (I use the Proactiv system+Clarasonic 2x a day). I have recently been trying to stay away from conventional, chemical and filler-laden products. I know Lush doesn't specifically market a preventative anti-aging night cream, but I'm wondering how decent ( Read more... )

if your skin is oily, it's working against the wrinkles itself! oil prevents wrinkles, as a general rule. so for lushs stuff, i would check out the serum bar!

I'm honestly more concerned about sagging and spots than wrinkes. Do you think shangri-la or the serum bar would be a good preventative for that?

oily skin is just as prone to wrinkles as dry skin - that is an urban legend!

wrinkles are caused by muscles in the face!

The serum bar is VERY moisturizing and has portobello mushrooms in it for dark under-eye circles, but nothing for anti-aging.

Skin's shangri-la is Lush's best anti-aging cream, period. It has wheatgrass in it, which is excellent at preventing saging/aging/wrinkles. It's also what I use every night and my skin is just like yours (though I use Lush products for my skin exclusively). I find it heavy for my oily skin, but it doesn't break me out and for night-use only, it's just fine.

If you ever want to do some anti-aging skin masks, I'd recommend The Sacred Truth (great on anti-wrinkles) or Ayesha (great for tightening/firming the skin).

you're welcome!

I'm also an SA at Lush, so not just talking from experience either :) I will say, if you ever want to go off the Proactiv, Lush is an EXCELLENT alternative, but if it works for you, awesome!

I actually do use Herbalism sometimes, when my skin is not feeling the harsh stuff (my nose peels really badly from the benzoyl peroxide, it's pretty gross). My skin is just SO bad, so I've been clinging to Proactiv since it actually WORKED. Its a pain in the ass, though, because I have to be so careful about my towels/touching fabrics, and even then, it's impossible not to find I've bleached out SOMETHING again :/
What else of Lush's would you recommend that I try? I definitely would try gradually attempting a switch. The less harsh chemicals the better.

Not for nothing, but if you're willing to make the investment, Gorgeous is great for anti-aging benefits. Not so great with super oily skin..however, if you compare it to Shangri La for appropriateness on oily skin, I would choose Gorgeous every time.

Its full of natural AHAs...the same reason why Sacred Truth is a good mask :)

I work for Lush, too :)

I did consider that. I'm just having a little bit of a financial mess going on at the moment :/ So for now, even Shangri-La is a splurge. But I'll ask for a sample of gorgeous and keep my eye on it for the future!
Thanks so much for giving me some insight on that, though. I can't wait to try the creams! Haha. My lush is closed until Wednesday. I've been planning for it to be the first thing in the morning :p

Ha, I found a great loop hole! I ordered Gorgeous from the UK site, and it only cost me $61. I have no idea why that is cheaper than buying it domestically, but I'm so excited! I really hope it works well for me, because that would be a pretty costly return :p

Or like $49ish dollars... I'm bad with conversion. I know it was cheaper, though!

I use Skin's Shangri-La every night (I'm 29). I have acne-prone skin as well (I was on Accutane) and Skin's Shangri-La is amazing at moisturizing and I haven't had a problem with break outs or clogged pores from it.
I also use Fresh Farmacy but I also follow with a toner for the same reason you mentioned. Because it is heavy I just dab my finger on the cream and use that on one side of my face, another dab for the other side-- it really goes a long way. I don't recommend it during the day.

As a spot treatment Lush's Grease Lightening is AMAZING.
