I don't envy the famous anymore. Not that I ever did, but I now especially don't. I had a reporter from a newspaper following me around taking photos of me doing various fairly normal activities for the last three hours, and the novelty of stopping to take a photo every few seconds starts to wear thin about the time you have to pose with food ( Read more... )

Everything is more interesting when a foreigner does it, duh! That's a long time to follow someone for photos, and a long time to put up with being followed. I am definitely a curmudgeon, and would not have tolerated more than a few shots. So I think three hours puts you at a very good sport indeed!

It's okay, we'll get some great photos out of it. We just got photos back from a professional studio today, of the two of us doing yoga together, and while they're alright, they're not even close to the photos this guy snapped without the benefit of a studio or photoshop touch-ups. Since some of those photos were indeed the two of us doing yoga together, we'll come out fine. He told us he'd send us all the photos (and that means a lot, he took over a hundred in that three hours) after the article comes out. Printing those photos will be another matter, of course, but getting a photographer of that quality to work for free is pretty awesome.

Also, even curmudgeonly as I am, now that the annoying part is over I'm quite looking forward to the possibility of being in a real print article.

Wow, yeah, that's pretty sweet -- should make for some nice little mementos, that many professional pics. And definitely keep a cutout of your article! I was in one for theater once, when we met the author of a play we did, but I only ever saw a digital copy. It'd be a neat thing to have.

Woooow. That's... ouch. I suppose in a way, I can see his point--I do find you to be a rather interesting person. :)

But the stalking and the pictures and what-not? I don't think that makes you a "curmudgeon," it's sounds rather grating. Did he ask you for a story or anything?

No, it wasn't like that. He did indeed ask beforehand, and we'd actually arranged to meet that day for this purpose. After the photos of making dinner he ate with us, and told me my cooking was good too, so he can't be all bad. It's still not something I could do on a regular basis, though. Won't have to, of course, but I can be glad for that. :D

Oh nice!! That's pretty awesome then, actually. No wonder you felt like a star! :D

Your cooking always sounds awesome--when you talk about it, I mean. He's got good taste!

He asked for the recipe so his son could learn it, and was surprised, I think, by the lack of ingredients. It goes as follows:
