I have a very wise, lovely friend who's turned me on to some new and wonderful things. First and foremost, at present, is Marianne Williamson's A Return to Love. He's spoken so highly of the message that I finally got it - it was the right time and I need to read it, so I went out and bought it. Damn. Sounds like a good book.

I've frequently made the observation that there is an aspect of depression that is like the hole that remains after you lose a tooth. It hurts to poke at it with your tongue, but for some reason you just can't stop yourself from inflicting pain on your own person, there is something irrisistable and strangely enjoyable about it. And you just can't get yourself to stop. That being said, if I knew how to get myself or anyone else to stop poking at the damn hole, I sure as hell wouldn't have such a hard time finding a job!! ;-)

I'm looking forward to hearing your reactions as you read this book!

I think it is very possible that the reason we as a society are like that is the simple fact of survival of the fittest. A million years ago you did have to be smarter, faster, stronger, but in todays "easy" way of life the rules have changed and we have all this free time where we are told that we aren't good enough in any respect. Thus the creation of Hollywood and Barbie. I digress, the point is that it's human nature to push ourselves to see how far we can go and since it's no longer life or death, like we were designed for, failure is just bitter instead of deadly but still painful. Evolution can be a bitch sometimes huh kid? ~ Tay
