Kamen no Otoko: Impressions

Sep 05, 2011 20:20

I'm trying to keep the spoilers vague this time, because especially Kamen no Otoko has stuff that one must see to believe. Plus, I'm writing this in a hurry before I catch the night bus back to Kumamoto. Royal Straight Flush will follow tomorrow.

KITAROU CAN I HAVE YOUR BABIES PLEASE? ... Oh wait. X )

takarazuka, gender-ambitious ladies, awesome stuff about japan, japan land of expensive hobbies, fandom

Well, um, she was the dungeon commander, right? And at one point she was letting several people get whipped at the same time, and then she noticed that they all, erm, screamed and groaned in different pitches, so she started conduction the whips to create a melody.... yeah. And... I guess after that she went into her... own little dream world? X"D Just, really, watch it for yourself. I would ruin all the WTF if I said any more.

... whoever directed this has issues. XD;; I'm not so sure how to react to that.

(But going off into her own little dream world sounds more like the Koma I'm familiar with.♥)

I think all the actresses involved in that scene had a blast acting it out, it was just so surreal because of it's inappropriateness. ^^ The audience was kind of taken aback. Like, we're conditioned to clap along to this kind of music, but... the situation is a little... X"3

Ah~ so jealous (but happy) you got to see the show already! Thank you for posting about it, I've been curious to hear about how it was. I've been hearing mixed things about Iron Mask so I've been a bit nervous but if the Musketeers are good then I can deal with everything else *laughs*

(Sorry random person posting uninvited ^-^;)

Please don't be sorry! :D I'm still so new to the fandom, I'm happy about any contact with other fans.
The musketeers were definitely good. ^0^
You've been hearing mixed things? Where, if I might ask? I'm curious to see other people's opinion of it.

If you do a search for the show title and limit it to within the last couple days you should be able to find a bunch of Japanese blogs with people's reviews.

*read a few* .... ouch. :/
Well, I mean, I can understand where they're coming from. I think most of us just expected a straight up stage re-telling of the DiCaprio film (what I actually dreaded a little bit... first RomiJuri, now Kamen, what will they come up with next, freakin' Titanic? :/), and it sometimes even WAS that... but only in places. And the rest was... well... inventive. Cracky. Often enough anachronistic. And I think many people were just overwhelmed with that. I don't mean to say that it was perfect that way, but I wouldn't say that it was TERRIBLE, either. It's probably just a play that you need to be in a certain mood for? X"D
