I always do that too. I think it looks much better, myself, but I guess there are those that don't like it.

Two spaces after a period is one of those things like using double spacing when writing a paper. It's tradition and it might have its uses, but it by no means is "right" or "wrong." It's just a preference.

Mostly I'm trying not to do it because it creates unnecessary blocks of white space in paragraphs of text, especially when you use justified text.
