Ownership society

Paying a bunch of money for slips of paper is not ownership.

War is not peace. Lies are not truth.

I don't want any part of it.

1984 was not written as a guidebook. It was an example of what not to do.

There was never any better guidebook at keeping power once it's taken; everyone is afraid of an "emergency suspension" of the election four years from now. I want to believe in mass revolt if that happens, but this last election kinda shot that theory--a majority of the people didn't want democracy or tolerance, they wanted safety from gays and "terror".

I wish we were moving closer to Brave New World than 1984. At least then we'd be "happy" all the time, doped up on pleasure drugs, sex constantly...I mean, sure, it's not perfect, but it's way better than 1984.

Not to mention no military-industrial complex and a decent level of job satisfaction. I'd sign up for that.
