dude's 24!!! which makes it even more ridiculous. it's like, what!?

i actually get the coc's a lot (that's crushes on conservatives). i think it's because they usually are smart dressers and wear good shoes, which is a big turn on. hopefully fate will small on me in the u.k.!

i think more than embarassed i'm just annoyed. i don't like that he talked to me about god for so long, and i've had that experience before, and i don't like. i'm talking about where people just talk to you - knowing that you are not religious - about how wonderful jesus is or whatever. it's just kind of insulting, like you really need them to light the way for you or something. i dunno.

would tend to agree with above. i think he crossed a line. i happen to be a person of faith - in my own complicated way - and had the opposite experience recently where a guy told me i was a humanist not religious, and didn't know what i was talking about, and how anyone who believed in god or named their kids a hebraic name or any name that identified them as a person of faith was fucked up and he just spewed so much judgment my way it was very unattractive. i think anyone proselytizing, whether as a religious zealot or an atheist is unacceptable. and it is insulting as it implies that you cannot make your own decisions or think for yourself. think about why you're continuing this and if it's worth an evening more...

yes. well said. i realized that this was ridiculous last nite, and also that i was still in the "ohmygod, but you're so charming!" mode to the point that i was ignoring the parts of him that sucked. like how he kept talking about his disgust with women who lose their "virtue," whatever the hell that means. he also definitely pulled the "if i was a doctor with the cure for cancer, and you were a cancer patient, wouldn't it be wrong of me to not share with you that cure?" line to justify him going missionary style on me.

grrr. thanks for your thoughts on this.

Cute and charming or not... mercurialdawn January 3 2005, 16:04:09 UTC
the dude's a douchebag. If he wasn't interested there's no reason your age gap would be enough of an issue for him to verbally express his disappointment.

Between the flirting, preaching, and sexism in the guise of not wanting to take advantage, I'm inclined to think this chap fancies himself a Cassanova for Christ, using his charm and wiles to save the souls of hapless women everywhere.

And for the record, I'm fine with disgust at the loss of virtue if that's the way you wanna float your boat, but be fair about it. Men have virtue that can be lost too.
