Finished getting all of the achievements on Bioshock this weekend. Having played it both ways, I can say with authority that it's strategically better to save all the little sisters than kill them; you get a bunch of useful plasmids from saving them that you can't get otherwise, and if you kill them all you end up with a lot more ADAM than you ( Read more... )

I found that my favorite way to take out a big daddy was to find something like an air canister, loading it up with prox mines (whatever their name is properly), then using telekinesis to pick it up and throw it at 'em.

I've done it once on easy or normal (I can't recall) and saving all the sisters. Was tempted to do a hard run harvesting them all just to see both sides, and to also get achievements, but... I really struggle to replay story-rich games. It's like because I know where it's going, somehow I feel less compelled.

I have no problem with repetition in other areas (as I've got books I've read several times over), but something about games.

I've always been a matador.

Shock, sidestep, Crossbow bolt/AP Machine gun. Surprisingly little damage but maybe I'm just fast on the old strafe control.

Considering the game was made by ex-System Shock people, you do NOT want weapon breakage, at least if they applied like they did in SS2. I mean, it was ridiculous...guns would break after being fired a handful of times and things like that. In fact, nowadays, the chief mods for SS2 are always about removing the system or fixing it entirely.

I don't think I've ever played a shooter-type game with a well-developed weapon erosion/breakage system except Far Cry 2. Everywhere else, it's usually just been painfully annoying or game-breaking.
