UgH ... misplaced acne = non-misplaced anger ...

So today I was supposed to go to Hayley's house at around 1:00...so I was in Ames to go grocery shopping with my mom, and I called her. She was not home, so I left a message. I waited for her to call back as long as I could, but eventually .. like half past 2 or longer .. I had to leave. Which I guess is kosher, since I didn't get a call from ( Read more... )

How is Darcula representative of the ultimate sin?

I'd say Nosferatu is far worse as he ties in with the anti-semitism of Europe at the time the film was made.

Jim, do some research. Really now. If you read 'Vampire : The Complete Guide to the World of the Undead' by Manuela Dunn Mascetti, you will become as knowledgeable as Umi and I are in the whole vampire realm. Yes, that's what I did most of all last summer - vampire research! Here are a few notes I took for her book:

The Vampire is a lonely creature who must live in isolation, kill and drink blood, commit horrendous acts of inhuman behavior, and yet still possess human feelings ( ... )

Why should he research for a simple answer. He's not interested just a passing idle curiosity. By asking you kids he was doing just the sort of research that made sense. Can't expect us all to read vampire books.

BeCAUSE, sir skeptical(now yer rapper name), Dracula's origin was Judas Iscariot. He commited the ultimate sin by betraying Jesus, and it's natural in today's society to want to turn from religion, and what's the best way to do that? Become a friggin' vampire and join the one who made it possible (more or less) for our sins to be forgiven. Why not just throw that chance away and be on the dark side. Besides, I don't see how Nosferatu could be the name of ONE vampire, as Nosferatu refers to the entire 'race' of the undead. Do some research.

Also, you should see by your comments why I'm always so bitchy to you. Always gotta fight me, huh?

Also also, it's Dracula, not Darcula.

I was referring to Murnau's movie Nosferatu (1922). While I realize that that is a vampire type (ghey) I guess I thought that the vampire's was that. But the name of the character that Max Schreck played in the 1920s is Graf Orlock. Just look at how they designed the character and one can see the (high possible) anti-semitic sentiment of Germany at the time. He dresses like an eastern european and has a giant jew nose.

You're always bitchy just because you like to be a bitch.

Also, I've heard otherwise re: Iscariot. Some have said that Cain was the first vampire.

Then again, debating about vampires is really dumb to begin with as I don't give a damn about them much outside of Castlevania.

Also, I was, uh, referring to the blaxploitation film Darkula (1977), not to be confused with Blackula.

According to many sources, yes, that is his origin. But according to Wes Craven, he is Judas.

So there. Vlad Teppich was just a guess that made a bit of sense to everyone, so they gave up. Look up the Blood Countess. That's another vampire story.

I'm pretty sure it was Vlad Tepes, not Teppich.
