With a triumphant flourish, Jack laid his hand out on the chart table. “I do believe… I win!”
Elizabeth gaped disbelievingly at her own cards, then at Jack’s. “But… how--?”
“And now…” he leaned closer, eyes darkening wickedly, “I rightfully claim the agreed-upon forfeit…”
Afterwards, still lost amid tangled limbs and wrinkled linens, Elizabeth gasped breathlessly: “You incorrigible cheat!”
Jack raised his head from her heaving bosom. “Lizzie! Are you accusing me of rigging the game?”
“Didn’t you?”
Inscrutable grin segued into a hot, sweet kiss. “Any complaints, luv?”
Smiling, she pulled him back down to her. “Not a one…”
