Prologue
He looked at the person he once trusted, his eyes never leaving the person’s face. Was this the same person that he worked with? The same person he used to be friends with? He looked at the cold eyes and inwardly shivered, they where not the same. The other man smirked and moved slightly.
“I said drop the gun or I’ll shoot” He threatened again. The man laughed silently.
“Would you really be able to do that Eric? Kill a fellow cop, your partner for that matter?”
“You’re not my partner” He hissed, “A partner wouldn’t kill someone for the sake of killing. You’re not the same person who joined the force”
“Nobody ever is” He could hear the sirens in the distance and wondered if they would ever reach them in time. The waves crashed along the dock and the rain splattered on the ground. He wanted to pull the trigger. He wanted to do something, the other man however spoke before he could, “They’ll be here in oh about ten minutes. What are you going to do Eric?”
“Drop your gun Sean” He hissed finally using his partner’s name.
“Why should I? Then I’ll be defenceless” Through the rain he could feel the sweat going down his face. He knew he had to do it but somehow he couldn’t. He finally dropped the gun in a move of defeat and his partner smirked, “I knew you couldn’t do it. You always depended on me to do the killing Eric. Face it, you made me who I am”
“You made yourself” He informed him without blinking. He wasn’t going to let him get to him. He couldn’t, “leave now before the cops come Sean. This is your last chance”
“My last chance disappeared a long time ago Eric” He tried to figure out what those cryptic words meant as he watched Sean nod and head towards the docks.
“What are you doing Sean?” He inquired knowing that Sean had planned something. He could hear the cop cars pulling in and then he heard the footsteps running. Suddenly though he heard a gun shot and he watched as Sean fell off the docks and into the water below. He could see what looked to be red blood covering the water.
He whirled around looking at his fellow cops in shock, “who shot him?” he angrily yelled at the group, “who shot that bullet?”
Nobody moved a muscle they all stared blankly at him as he looked around the car park trying to figure out where the gunshot came from. He then spotted something moving in the distance and he ran towards it. Eager to capture the one who had killed his now ex partner.
