In Austin there were panhandlers on every corner. Now that I'm in a small village, I never see them and am sheltered. Even Albany has much less than Austin(smaller city though .) but door to door? I've never experienced that and that would freak me out. I wouldn't answer my door.

Yeah. Door to door is crazy. It's more like just coming up to you if you're in your yard or driveway. But still...
