An incident from last week I've been meaning to share: I took Alice to a large crowded playground. There was a small pack of boys running around. They appeared to be between the ages of 8-12. Alice was fascinated by them, as they ran after one another pretend shooting one another and making up rules on the fly and hollering and climbing everything ( Read more... )

You are such a good mom. Some moms these days are SO afraid of strangers it gets quite rediculous. Thank goodness for people like you!

Aww, I appreciate that. It's so hard some days to feel like I'm a good Mom. Like last night when she was trying to get a piggyback ride and pulling herself back and unintentionally choking my neck really hard I just started yelling, "Stop it! Let go!" as loud as I could and then D. came in on this scene of chaos and I'm like, seriously, I was in a fight to the death with my two year old. How does that happen?

I have talked with her about never getting in the car with a stranger or letting them take her away from an area where she can't see a trusted adult like me or her class teachers.

That's a great story:) I've seen middleschoolers be amazingly sweet and amazingly awful.

The butt sex thing isn't true:)

Yeah, middle school is really the lion's den. I'm used to the violence of middle school, I just don't recall ever seeing the sweet side when I was in it.

Thanks for updating me on the mythos around butt sex. You'd think that grown-ups (including me) wouldn't be so uninformed about this stuff and getting our information from rumors!

Thanks. It occurred to me recently that I probably should start pairing that with some My Body talk and have gently introduced it. Not worried quite yet as she's either in my sight or at daycare (which I trust, it's an awesome place) 100% of her time.

What an awesome story! <3

That boy either is a rare find or he definitely has siblings. So cute!

I wanted to hug him. That would have been so the wrong thing to do though. :)
