Each day is its own country,
Filled with citizens clamoring to be heard,
Speaking in tongues of rage, or hope, or tears,
Today fully inhabited,
Today alive and engaged,
But tomorrow foreign and incomprehensible,
Refugees waiting to bleed over the borders of time,
To colonize the future space in my mind.

Yes. I've been talking about this with my counselor. I tend to "catch" feelings from people and it can be overwhelming to me or it can make me shut off my emotions and wall them away. I'm trying to figure out a balance that lets me not become flooded or alternately cut off from my feelings.

I dig this.

Speaking of refugees, do you have access to see John Oliver's show Last Week Tonight? Last night was a good one about the refugees in Europe.

I didn't see the most recent show. It's interesting. I was thinking more of myself, projecting the grand drama of the world onto my own microcosm of reality. But yes, the actual refugees are an overwhelming topic for me as well.

I got that. I picked up what you were putting down. I saw what you did there. :)

Gah! I should trust people more. For some reason I re-read what I wrote and decided that it wasn't understandable. Second guessing myself is one of my main talents in life.
