Through my grandmother’s eyes I saw the rise and fall of the German empire

The devastation of the bombs on Hiroshima and Wall Street

The adhesiveness of dust on every inch of every dream.

I saw the storm that raged behind the scenes for twenty years

Before it finally broke, tore, destroyed the wall.

oh, lovely. something about older people - the lives they've led, the stories they have to tell...it always gets me.
