Hello.

The point of this entry was supposed to be me showing a picture of the hat my mom crocheted me, but my computer (or LJ, or both) doesn't seem to want to upload pictures now. I'll try again later.

Project for Awesome on YouTube was this week. If you don't know, P4A is when the community formed around vlogbrothers' videos make videos about different charities and everyone rates/favorites/comments them like crazy to get them on the Most Discussed, Top Rated and Top Favorited pages on YouTube (Here's Hank's video about it.). I didn't make a video, but I commented other people's for hours which was surprisingly fun. I left so many comments. SO MANY. Some people are probably on their way to carpal tunnel after this, seriously.

Our goal was to get the top twenty spots on the Most Discussed page so the entire first page would be ours, then get as many comments as we could on all the other videos so they would make it onto the other pages. This is not an easy feat, let me tell you. It was a lot better than I was expecting and I got caught up in the frenzy of commenting. Hank or John were live on BlogTV all day and as we got closer everyone got more into it and we were listening to music and commenting as fast as we could. For a while we were split into teams (screen names A-J vs. L-Z) and we would race to 4500 comments on different videos. At one point we left 1700 comments in eight minutes.

Then last night YouTube said it was going down for maintenance, and we only had an hour to move several videos up a few thousand comments to be secure. Everyone was freaking out. It would have been such a bitter pill to swallow if we only got nineteen of the twenty spots again (Last year Mike Huckabee's Christmas ad was the one non-project video on the page.), but we wound up doing it in fifteen minutes or so. And YouTube went down with only P4A videos on its Most Discussed page, which I made me very happy. I couldn't help it -- the enthusiasm was contagious.

My (OC-obsessed) friend found The O.C. seasons on sale for $15, and she got me season one for Christmas. I find Marissa more annoying now than I did the first time I watched it. Sandy is pretty funny though, and my mother laughs at Seth a lot. On a related note, I've caught myself saying the nonword "whatevs".
