Adventures in sitting...

Nothing worth talking about happening IRL, so guess I'll talk about what I've been watching.

Finally started watching Bridgerton. I'm five eps in and it's... ok? Obviously haven't come to that scene yet, but I know it's coming. As for my reactions?

God, I'd forgotten what an absolute prick Anthony was. I mean, I get it. Head of the family from too young of an age, the whole male-superiority complex of the time, the wanting to do right by his sister, etc., etc. But to basically turn away EVERY suitor on some pretext or another, only to encourage an absolutely vile piece of slime is... UGH! Thank god Violet called him on it. Eventually. She really should have stepped in earlier and torn him a new one. She is still his mother, after all. :) (BTW, his treatment of his mistress? Totally goes back to what I was saying before about Bella Poldark. Just sayin'.)

I'm not sure I care for the actress portraying Daphne. She's too... waifish? for what I remember Daphne being in the books. Of course, it's been 20 years since I read that one, so my memory might not be too reliable. See what I said about Anthony. :D Besides that, I did enjoy the not-courting repartee between her and Simon. I just wish they'd had more serious conversations before getting married, and that he'd opened up to her about his past abuse before then as well. But then, where would the drama be, am I right?

I'm going to have to rewatch the bits with Benedict at Grenville's place (hardship, I know.), because I read something this morning about one of the women in his ménage à trois being Grenville's wife, and I totally did not pick up on that at the time. I have to wonder if/hope that his sexuality will be explored further in Season 2. *crosses fingers* If not, I guess there's always fanfic. ;)

I love Eloise and Penelope's friendship, feel for Penelope and her crush on Colin, and am thoroughly confused by Marina - since she's totally a different character in the books. Ah, well, poetic license and all that. I'll just have to go with it. But I know what books I'll be rereading before too much longer! :)

I also decided to start watching The Rookie. I watched a few eps when it first aired, but didn't care for the 'humor' that was probably supposed to be self-deprecating but came off as stupid/slapstick. Still, I kept recording it with the thought I'd either eventually go back to watching or end up deleting them all. :) My s-i-l said it got better, and I watched the eps with Sean & Alan when they aired (not enough Nathan-Sean interaction, and more stupid humor with Alan), so I figured I'd give it another go. And, tbh? I am enjoying it more this time around. Maybe I just needed some distance from Nathan's shenanigans for a while. :) Anyway, I'm almost through the first season, and the 'humor' toned down, as did the relationship drama, and the through plot-lines got more interesting. So, yeah, guess I'll continue watching that - at least for now.

Also watched a couple of Elvis movies in the past week or so. Hearing "Bossa Nova" on the radio the other day got me in the mood. :) I was lucky enough to find Fun in Acapulco streaming, so that satisfied the "Bossa Nova" itch. :D Then I found Easy Come, Easy Go and Roustabout available on my cable system. ECEG isn't one of his better ones, but enjoyable fluff nonetheless. Haven't got to Roustabout yet, but I do like that one, so am looking forward to it.

Have also been adding things to my queue on streaming. So many shows, so little time! Next up? Probably Alan's new one, Resident Alien, just to see if I like it. Here's hoping!
