First I have to thanks everybody who made this con actually happened and also to everybody who spent their time with me at the con! You rocks guys! I always feel bad I had no chance to thank You and say good bye personaly but last day at EF is always just a chaos. So no matter how much I tried I found only few of You. So I'm sorry.

Eurofurence 16 con report

First Eurofurence in a big style! Yes, it had to come and it just did. Eurofurence changed a lot since my first EF 6 experience. I still remember how I stand in a hostel room where I slept with other five furries (well actually only with four, because fifth didn't make it for some reason), looking out from the window on a small terrace with only few furries and maybe two suiters. This old days are definitely gone. Now when You stand on ambit in Maritim hotel, You'll see a huge hotel lobby full filed with thousand furries from all corners of the world. I'm going to bore You with detailed step by step report but I'll highlight some experience.

We came at first official day of EF. I think it lobby was for some reason over warmed. Really, when I has been in lobby, I thought I'm in a sauna. But I experienced this only first day. Possibly there was some problem in air condition system. Maybe too much new people in a short time. :D What I really enjoyed this year has been con badges as room keys. Finally! First EF without sharing room key problem. I also like hotel location and it's interior. Parking in hotel is overpriced but there is a lot of cheaper parking space around so our worries about parking didn't come into nightmare. So don't worry about parking at EF in Magdeburg.

However it was quite culture shock for hotel as well as for furries. It was funny to watch hotel staff behaving as it was a some large company soiree. Even much more funny in fact that one of effect from really really high prices of beverage has been overall low consumption of hotel drinks in a lobby. So those maybe ten waiters continually searching lobby for empty glasses but there has been only very few of them. As a watcher it seems to me as a kind of "Seek and hide" game when waiters trying to find glass and get a point to score. :) This was first two days. I think later hotel finally realised that this bored searching human drones are unusable and they just disappeared from lobby.

Yes, I spent quite a lot of time in lobby since I was not invited to any room party. By the way, there was plenty of room parties as I heard. Most of them just because of high hotel prices for beverage. So this is one side effect of this to whole Eurofurence atmosphere. Totaly different atmosphere in lobby in compare to previous three Eurofurences in Ringberg. Hopefully this will change next year as hotel drop prices a bit (if).

Another great thing about Eurofurence in a large city is possibility to interact with city. Not only through media and in costumes on street but also with restaurants offering specials and discounts. This is very good tradition at Anthrocon in Pittsburgh as long as I know, so this happening in Magdeburg will just rock our european furry asses off! Hopefully this is going to happen more spontaneously next year as long as this year was prepared by con staff so there has been some little "disagreements" during offering discounts etc. I tried a pizza restaurant on left corner of hotel. They had really yummy pizza for nice price especially with discount. I'm pretty sure they never had so busy days as during Eurofurence as long as this restaurant was almost full filled with furries so this is definitely good business for both sides.

Another funny experience has been chatting with room service. They has been cleaning our room everyday. We always left a message on small piece of paper include some tip and they always answered. Last day they even left us another free peanuts for our change. :D However it may sound positive I didn't like room service very much. Not because of them but just for simple fact that if You went to bed at 5am You really won't be wake up too sson and 10am is not good enought. Need of leaving room because they have to entry and clean up was sometime quite frustrating. One very good thing about Ringberg - they had no instruction to ignore DND notations on doors after 10am as well as in Maritim. Oh Jesus.

Olven got some ugly flu during EF and I got it few days after when I return at home. I'm still a bit sick. I think this is my first EF con crud ever. Good score indeed considering ten eurofurences behind. :D

I still had no time to export photos from EF, so please be patient. I'm going to post url to gallery here as soon as possible.
