Right, Connie and I are having a flat party, Friday 21st April. Feel free to bring people, but preferably no psychopaths. If you don't know where our flat is, post a comment and I'll get back to you.
It seems that I'll be taking a holiday this week; when I say holiday, I mean trying to write my bastard thesis at home instead of at work. Even when I squint at my screen really hard, the words don't seem to be appearing, so I'm going to have to really try and expand my meagre word count - obviously I'll be looking for some heavy-duty procrastination too so perhaps a trip to the seaside is in order.
I have been looking for jobs recently, which is a rubbish hobby. I have found a guy I would like to work with (at UCL) but I need to think carefully about how to approach him but also act quickly to try and sort out funding. I've tried asking people at my department how to go about making a good first impression, and the only pearl of wisdom I've received is that I shouldn't start my email with the word 'dude'.
[Nuclear fusion - far sexier than my work]
Well, the good news is that my paper has been accepted for a conference in California (just like
last year), so I can take the opportunity to seek out gainful employment there if nothing else takes off.
