I have never been to Dragon Con before and neither has my husband, despite his geek credentials. This year we are thinking about going because 1. The chick from MythBusters will be there and she is on Clay's List, possibly in the top 5. and 2. I have a 3 year old who is OBSESSED with all things Star Wars. I think it's fine for kids. I see them all the time. Kids under 7 are also FREE.Also they have Dragon Con daycare, but it's first come, first serve AND you DO have to have bought a membership for them, so I'm not so sure it's worth $85. a kid. :)

As far as the fear factor, there are large crowds, if you think that would freak them out. But you can avoid those alot by just not walking through them. There are many ways to get from point A to point B. Any scary costumes you can see coming and avoided I think. Your kid can get a belly full of Star Wars stuff buy just going to see the events in the Star Wars area. So it would be easy to avoid problems I think.

People bring their kids in costume so they get in on the action all the time. I've even seen family's dress in group costumes together. I've seen several Star Wars families. I saw a family dressed as the Incredibles once. It's kinda like 4 day Halloween :)

I think they would dig it. Actually I think you all would dig it. :)

Cool! I just didn't want to be the douche that brings her kids to an adult-type-like event. We might have to make the trek down to the Con after all. It would be interesting to see my son's head explode from all the Star Wars. And if we happened to run into a few friends *cough cough* then all the better.

Were you thinking about all four days, because if you are just thinking one day then the line wait is like 4+ hours. Last year the Saturday line for registration went all the way around the building and that was just to get in the door.

4 HOURS?? Holy shit. I don't think I would stand in line for 4 hours to see Jesus Christ playing Ping Pong with Ozzy Osbourne. Damn.
