There are 2 types of languages: natural and formalized. I suppose, Tarski concerns himself with formalized languages, and the book - with natural language, doesn't it? To put human semantics into machine, we need to formalize the process of cognition! And this leads us to the AI problem...
PS: Thank you! I was just searching for a book to read! :) Is it life-asserting?
Thanks for your kind english response =] -- I have not read Tarski himself, but Popper did use Tarski's results in application to natural languages: English and German. Language semantics could be distinct from syntax but nevertheless simple enough for machine processing: C++ for example. As of recommendations, Stephenson is good as usual. I've also read his "Cryptonomicon" and "Diamond Age". The "Age" is imho the best of three, the most vivid. Answering your question about life-asserting, I can say without doubt, the book contains all components, vital for modern asphalt jungle inhabbitant: nature, romantic lines, sweet philosophical discussions et cetera. But! Personally I'd prefered the pure Popper, ot Wittgenstein, or to say Hoffstadter ("I am a strange loop"). They provide some concentrated pleasure and joyness of a special kind.
