I went to the theatre the other night...
I had enjoyed a few of the songs before, but WOW. This is an absolutely amazing show. As in a major pivotal moment in my theatre-going experience. Almost haunting. To the point where I'm trying to figure out if I can get down to see it in Portland this coming weekend.
The last time I experienced this sort of feeling in the musical theater was when I saw Phantom for the first time and I "found" the modern Broadway musical. Up until that point, I was limited to Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Lowe and a few of the "safer" shows of the 70s.
And, as an aside, I have it on good authority that Rent will be making a stop in Seattle next June (followed by a stop in Portland) - and this is the tour that (at least at this point) will be starring Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal.
