well, like I was telling lindsey... revenge where you just fix everything is the most pleasant. It sticks, no one can complain, and rather than just telling them they're wrong once... you get to construct a reality that proves it to them, vividly and unarguably, over and over and over.
Of course, it takes a lot of effort, so if you're not getting some very useful value out of it (and if it doesn't help other people) it's usually not worth it. I really needed the lecture series, I was impossibly far behind theory students at other schools (basically just a solid undergrad education)... and that seriously hampered my ability to do research independently. The past year has done a *lot* to bridge that gap.

Thinking back, I went through something a lot like this at my job before I came to IU. I actually applied to IU in January 2007, thinking to start in fall '07 -- but I needed to stay at my job for another year in order to have my revenge.
Anyway, congratulations! And I can't wait to see what you accomplish next.
