I finally got out the hummingbird feeder for this year. I put only half the amount of liquid in as I formerly did because it’s so hot and I felt I needed to change more often. So I notice that I have attracted not birds but bees. I’m looking at the feeder and there’s a bee head down in one of the tiny holes. I wonder, is he dead? I gave the feeder

I've never had that happen, even with flowers right below the feeder. The bees still would go for the flowers. Like you say, you might have very smart bees! *g*
