On the other hand, though, a wedding is pretty much your only chance for froth. So I can definitely see the appeal of Cinderella-like, poofy skirts. I also think it would be a little subtler with white-on-white beading.
I think I'm deciding that choosing The Right Dress is just as ridiculous as choosing The Right College: you could be happy wearing plenty of things, just as you could be happy attending plenty of schools. But still there's that pressure to find out which one will be More Right than others.
Nicole (sitting next to me) agrees. She debated whether to go with the dress she found, but figured that putting off the decision wouldn't make it any easier, plus that dress would go away and stuff.
The woman in the store told her that another woman called back a few days later about the dress, BUT IT WAS GONE. (cue dramatic music)
If you think the money you'd save would be worth it, and you'd be happy wearing the dress, and you don't think something outstandingly better will come along, I'd say go for it. Did you try it on? How did you feel wearing it, if you did?
I'm not attracted to either of the 2 dresses, actually, so it's hard to say what I think on an aesthetic level. Though I like the beading on the first one. I just think the dress in itself looks too much like a costume, since the material looks like the stuff cheap ballerina costumes are made out of, or something. But that's just me.
Yeah, I'd say the Mikaella one would suit you better. But if you could get the Mikaella's organza and a-line with the tulle's beading... that combo might work well.
Is it cheaper to buy one ready-made? Or maybe I'm just used to living near Mexico and having lots of cheap seamstresses available...
Sorry, just seeing this emergency post... have to say, the first dress doesn't scream "Liddy" to me, while the second one definitely does. I perceive you (good CPE language, right?) as a simple, elegant and beautiful bride. The first one is a a little...hmm, gaudy. But whatever makes you happy, and whatever makes you feel most beautiful on the day is the one to buy! Do you feel like a princess? Then buy it!
