Eat less? What about just watching what you eat and doing a bit of exercise? That worked for me :) Walking or jogging three times a week easily takes off ten pounds.
(And ya know what? even if you are a dumpling, honestly, what's wrong with that? A woman/girl with any various extra weight doesn't have to be indicative of anything. Women/girls with a bit of extra weight are more attractive, anyways. Skinny girls are WAY overrated.)
