Vollmond, ou bien la nuit blanche - a fanmix for moonlit solitary walks

Oct 11, 2009 11:02

Technically this is my first fanmix. In fact, this is my third one, but the first two are still in progress, 'cause they turned out to be much more difficult ideas to develop than this one. Anyway, ladies and gentlemen, I give to you

Vollmond*, ou bien la nuit blanche**

I wonder if it would make sense if I said that this mix sounds very Eastern-European and it makes me feel very homesick, lol.
A beautiful selection of songs that convey a lovely image.

Quite probable:) I am Ukrainian (well, technically half-Russian half-Polish, that makes me Ukrainian all in all), and in music I just adore Austro-Hungarian empire and everything connected to it (that means from German-speaking countries through Hungary with many a csardas to Transylvania). So this one must have ssomething Eastern-European in it...
Where are you from, by the way?

I'm Romanian (a quarter Ukrainian, though, but somehow I never managed to learn Ukrainian because my grandfather died before he could teach me) ^^
And yeah, I don't mean it sounds eastern-european due to the languages used in some songs, but the whole mood of it feels like that, familiar and haunting and beautiful :)

That's the same story with me and Polish. I have lots of Polish blood from both sides, but no living relatives who'd speak Polish...

Your icon is love:) I've been meaning to visit it for a helluva lot of time, but never get close, the holiday trip always turns up planned for another country...

This mix is lovely! The theme had me caught from the first but the songs you chose really complete it. And there's Tanz on here-- squee!

And the fact that it's Steve Barton does make me very happy. I've been meaning to get those tracks on my new iPod, and in conjunction with this playlist, I love how it works out.

Ah, the frost is a terrible thing... (Because I surely made this playlist in August, only made the English text to go with it right now). I always envied the heroines (a vivid example is Emmy Rossum as Christine) when they walk in the snow having nothing on but a lacy low-cut dress and a thin cloak - and aren't apparently freezing at all! (While poor me needs gloves long before the water begins to freeze, and polo-neck plus scarves, no decoltee...)

О, тогда буду тебе сватать сольный альбом Варлоу, откуда я это стащила - On the Boards. На джукбоксе есть (хотя я его вообще собиралась на радостях в ближайшие недели запостить...)

This is so beautiful! But .rar doesn't work on my computer. is there any way I can get .zip please??

Reply

christabel_daae October 11 2009, 17:01:39 UTC
Well... rar seemed all right with me 'cause I thought that WinRAR is a typical archive programme for Windows...

I surely can do a .zip file, just not now. Maybe this time tomorrow... I'll let you know anyway:)

It turned out that my PC Linux laptop, unlike my Windows XP one, can zip files. Made an UPD then:) Here you are

I love this mix. The idea was incredible, the mix was fantastic and the fact that you went to the trouble of finding clips on youtube pushes your mix far past any others I have every seen.
