Mike died. Sometime last week. All they told me was that he went to sleep and didn't wake up. At coffee I happened upon his obituary, In lieu of flowers, donations in Michaels memory to the San Francisco local mental health chapter, 870 Market St.... Mike killed himself. Sometime last week. I would guess pills, but it doesn't matter.
