Yeah. I've been a long time gone, all right. Working, traveling, holidays, writing - pretty much in that order. I promised this part of my old-school BSG fic months ago. It was completed in November, but I wasn't ready to post it until round about now. I gave it a last read-through, changed a few key words & phrases, and here it is. Pay attention to the notes.
If you want to read or review the first part of this fic, go
here. It's a long road, but hopefully an interesting one to travel.
If you're ready, the fic starts here with a fresh set of disclaimers. Ready?
Title: The Book of Jason, Part Two
Author: Lydia Lovestruck
Pairing: Apollo/Starbuck (overall)
Genre: Drama
Rating: NC17 overall (for assorted reasons - it’s a long story)
Beta: IGTOW & Anna
Warnings: Hetsex, violence, bad language; forced sexual consent; drug use; violence.
Summary: A sort of ‘portrait of the colonial warrior as a young man.’ A history of Starbuck in way too many words, way too many points of view, and way too many parts. Unless you like this sort of thing, and then enough’s never enough, is it?
Notes: Novayahren is the beginning of spring on Caprica (Caprican time is considered Colonial Standard). Times are based on 100 minutes to an hour, 24 hours in a day, 8 days a week, 10 months a year plus 2 weeks of festival at the end of the year (that actually varies from Colony to Colony, so as to accommodate longer and shorter planetary orbits) in order to keep everyone on the same day & year throughout the Colonies. Natacapra is like Miami Beach - a place where tourists visit and rich people live more or less year-round. The last real cease-fire with the Cylons was over 500 yahrens ago. While the fighting is not constant, vigilance is.
If you haven’t read ‘The Book of Jason, Part One’ (parts 1-31) at least once, this may not make quite as much sense to you. But don’t feel obligated, either. Aside from some references, this doesn’t wholly rely on intimate knowledge of what went before to figure out what’s going on now. Suffice to say Starbuck is a newly graduated warrior (with the highest set of non-academic scores in 50 yahrens) who got sent to Liberty Station instead of a warship of any kind. His friends Apollo, Boomer and Xenon got plum assignments. He got desk duty.
On to Part 1: Liberty Station!
