Honestly, I think if I took all these general courses in High school, I shouldn't need to take them in college. All I do is go through the same shit, just now I have to pay umpteen dollars to the facility because they say it will "make me a more rounded person." So I am for the narrow course taking - assuming I actually KNEW what I was going to take. Otherwise, hell yeah, general courses to get me interested in different things are a great idea.

Then again perhaps I misunderstood what you were trying to say altogether, lol.

P.S. YOU NEVER CALLED ME BACK ABOUT FLORIDA :9

Tracking and specialization produces people who are better able to preform and produce results. Specific, quantifiable results that make schools look better and give you a better chance of getting a specific job.

But I doubt that we'll ever really have that in this country. Considering that most people change jobs 11 times over the course of their lives, I think that tracking would be an obviously unwise decision. It makes no logistical sense when the individuals you train for one specific job later in life change their minds about what they want to do. And Mechanical Engineers and Neurosurgeons aside, most people I know major in things their undergrad that have no bearing, and don't need to have any bearing on their future careers.

So my point is that if this is the change that is coming, its got a ways to go.
